Men's basketball hosts Concordia College on Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU men's basketball team hosts its second home game of the season as the Dolphins face Concordia College at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Dolphins (2-0) are fresh off their second straight victory and have come up with big second halves in each win - outscoring their opponents by 27 points combined in second half of their two contests.

In Wednesday's 76-64 win over South Carolina State, Ben Smith led all scorers with 22 points, tallying 11 points in each half. He finished the game by hitting 6-of-10 and a perfect 8-of-8 at the free throw line to go along with his six assists and six rebounds.

Lehmon Colbert added 15 points, hitting 5-of-9 from the floor, including three 3-pointers, along with a team-high eight rebounds. Freshman Ayron Hardy finished with 11 points for his first double digit scoring effort of his collegiate career.

The JU defense was key to the victory, holding the Bulldogs (0-3) to just 28 points in the second half. The Dolphins forced eight turnovers and held S.C. State to just 35.5 percent shooting in the second half from the floor.
