JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU assistant men's basketball coach William Faulkner isn't a novelist like his famous namesake, but he is making an impact.

Faulkner's efforts have not gone unnoticed as he was named JU "Employee of the Month" for January, earning the campus-wide award.

"Coach Faulkner is a great role model for our student-athletes and has developed a great rapport with them," said JU head coach Cliff Warren. "All of our players know that he is there for them, in good times and bad. This is an honor and it shows the impact that he has made on this campus."

The Dolphins assistant coach has been a major contributor to the success of the program, both on and off the floor the past three seasons, especially with his work in overseeing study hall and emphasizing the "student" in student-athlete.

"I feel honored to receive this award," Faulkner said. "This is just a reflection of the coaching staff and the people I work with on a daily basis contributing to help these young men grow, not just as basketball players, but as men."
