ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Shawn Platts scored 21 points and pulled down a career-high nine rebounds, while Kris Hunter scored 13 points, grabbed nine boards and blocked five shots as JU broke a three-game losing streak with a 58-54 conference win over UCF in orlando.

The Dolphins, who improve to 11-6 overall, 4-4 in the TAAC, held the Golden Knights (6-12, 2-6) to just 31 percent shooting for the game, including 13 percent (3-23) from the three-point line.

Kevin Sheppard added 12 points and shot 6-of-7 from the line in his first start of the season as JU connected on 18-of-24 free throws and forced UCF into 15 turnovers.

"This was a pivotal game for both teams and we found a way to get back on track. Shawn Platts showed his senior leadership, not only by scoring 21 points, but by grabbing nine defensive rebounds and setting the tone for us defensively," said head coach Hugh Durham. " Kris Hunter also had one of his most dominating performances of the season."
