JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Brandon Williams and Shawn Platts each sank a pair of free throws in the final 20 seconds to lift Jacksonville to a 72-69 win over Mercer in Trans America Athletic Conference play Monday night.

The Jacksonville Dolphins (12-6, 5-4) made only one basket for most of the final six minutes of the game, then relied on deadly free throw shooting down the stretch for the victory.

Jacksonville converted on nine of 10 attempts from the line in the last four minutes, including four straight by both Williams and Platts.

The Dolphins held a nine point lead midway in the second half before the Mercer Bears mounted a comeback.

Mercer (7-11, 4-5) used the outside shooting of Rodney Kirtz to gain a tie at 63 with 3:36 remaining. But Johnny Jones put the Dolphins back on top with a free throw 20 seconds later to give the host team the lead for good.

Josh Sagester went 2-for-3 with 11 seconds left to bring the Bears to within one, at 70-69. But Platts sealed the win for the Dolphins with a pair of free throws with 9.7 seconds to go.

Williams' 17 points led the Dolphins, while Kevin Sheppard added 15, his sixth straight double-figure scoring effort.

Scott Emerson paced Mercer with 17 points, and Kirtz finished with 16.
