JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville guard Shawn Platts (Jacksonville, Fla.) has earned second-team All-TAAC honors, as announced by the league office on Monday. Platts helped lead JU to an 18-9 regular-season record and an 11-7 mark in league play as the Dolphins finished tied for third place along with Stetson and Samford.

Platts is second on the team and 11th in the TAAC in scoring at 14.4 points per game, while ranking second in the league in 3-point field goal percentage (.464) and third in the conference in free throw percentage (.830) and field goal percentage (.562). The senior co-captain is the only guard among the top eight shooters in the league and has scored in double figures in 23 of 27 games this season. Platts, who ranks fifth all-time at JU in career 3-point field goal percentage (.424), also ranks 10th in the TAAC in steals (1.37 spg), including a career-high eight in a game against Samford, which ranks second all-time in the Dolphin record books.

The Jacksonville, Fla., native also averages 4.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. He has led JU in scoring on 11 occasions this season, while playing a team-high 30.8 minutes per contest. Platts, who earned TAAC Player-of-the-Week honors on Jan. 3, is the third Dolphin honored by the TAAC since JU joined the league in 1998. Forward Calvin Slaughter earned second-team honors the past two seasons.

The fourth-seeded Dolphins are preparing for the TAAC Championship, where they will face fifth-seeded Samford on Thursday at 8:15 p.m. at the GSU Sports Arena in Atlanta. JU is enjoying its best season since an 18-9 campaign in 1994-95.
