ORLANDO - Joey Graham tipped in a missed shot with less than a second remaining to give UCF a 73-72 victory against Atlantic Sun Conference foe Jacksonville in the UCF Arena Thursday, handing the visiting Dolphins their first loss of the year.

Jacksonville (3-1, 1-1) rallied from nine points down with 7:44 remaining to take a three-point lead by holding UCF (3-1, 1-0) scoreless for more than six minutes down the stretch. Jason Thornton came off the bench and hit back-to-back jumpers to give UCF a 71-70 lead before Ryan Lewis' follow-up dunk with 10 seconds left gave Jacksonville the lead back.

After a UCF timeout Ray Abellard dribbled to the right baseline and took a jumper that bounced off the rim into the lane. Josh Bodden picked up the rebound and took a fade away shot that Graham tipped in with .5 seconds showing on the clock.

Jacksonville called a timeout and set up a final play but time expired before the Dolphins could get a shot off. The game featured six lead changes in addition to being tied on three occasions. UCF trailed 37-31 at the half but battled back to take lead by as many as nine before Jacksonville's rally.

The Dolphins had three players in double figures and were led by James Daniels 22 points. Kevin Sheppard added 18 points and Calvin Warner scored 12 points and had a team-high nine rebounds. Paul Reed came off the bench to lead UCF with 20 points, hitting all nine of his free throw attempts. Abellard scored 13 points and Joey's twin brother Stephen Graham scored 12. Joey scored only four points, but pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

UCF returns to action Saturday with an A-Sun contest at Florida Atlantic.
