Jacksonville University junior Calvin Warner (Jacksonville, Fla.) was named Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week on Monday, as released by the conference office. He becomes the second Dolphin this season to earn the weekly honor as Kevin Sheppard (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) was tabbed the first A-Sun Player of the week on Nov. 26.

Warner averaged 16.0 points and 16.0 rebounds in two games last week as the Dolphins improved to 10-4 overall, 4-1 in conference play with a 73-58 win at Florida Atlantic and a 69-67 win against Jacksonville State. The 6-foot-7 forward scored only nine points against Florida Atlantic, but pulled down a career-best 18 rebounds, handed out two assists and blocked two shots in just 24 minutes of action. The 18 rebounds were the most for a JU player since Micah Ross had 19 boards against Louisiana-Lafayette on Jan. 6, 1996. Against Jacksonville State, Warner had a game-high 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead JU to the last-second win. He also had two steals and hit a jumper to give the Dolphins the lead with 1:47 to play.

For the season, Warner leads the team and ranks seventh in the A-Sun in scoring with 15.9 points per game, while leading the team and ranking third in the league with 9.2 rebounds per contest. He also ranks third in the conference with 2.0 blocks per game and has scored in double figures in 11-of-14 contests.

The Dolphins, who are second in the A-Sun, have won four straight and are playing for first-place in the conference tonight when they take on first-place Samford (8-6, 5-1 A-Sun) at 7:30 p.m. at Swisher Gymnasium. JU is also going for its 13th straight win at Swisher Gymnasium and is trying to improve to 7-0 at home for the first time since the 1973-74 season.
