Dolphins Cruise Past Campbell, 85-57, For 10th Conference Win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior forward Calvin Warner (Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 23 points and 13 rebounds to go along with four blocks as JU dominated Campbell in an 85-57 win Monday night in Atlantic Sun action at Swisher Gymnasium. The win ends the Dolphins' two-game win losing streak and leaves JU (16-8, 10-5 A-Sun) in third place in the A-Sun, just a half-game behind conference co-leaders Troy State (10-4) and Florida Atlantic (10-4).
Travis Robinson (Gastonia, N.C.) added 22 points and five rebounds in 26 minutes of action, while James Daniels (Port St. Joe, Fla.) scored 14 on 6-of-8 shooting. JU shot 49 percent for the game and out-rebounded the Camels, 43-24, while gaining a 22-8 edge in second-chance points. The Dolphins forced 15 turnovers and outscored Campbell 47-27 in the second half thanks to pressure defense that forced the Camels into 12-of-29 shooting following intermission. Campbell also hit just 2-of-13 threes for the game.
JU erased an early nine-point deficit and closed the first half on an 18-4 run over the final 6:12 to take a 38-30 lead at the break. Warner scored 13 points during the run for the Dolphins as JU held Campbell to just two field goals in the final six minutes of the half. Daniels scored seven straight points to start a 19-9 JU run to open the second half and the Dolphins led 57-39 with 10:55 to play. Daniels hit another trey to cap a second 19-9 run at the 4:24 mark and JU had its largest lead of the game, 76-48.
Antwan Robertson (New Smyrna Beach, Fla.) added six points, five rebounds and three steals in 17 minutes and Ali Kaba (Sanniquelle, Liberia) grabbed eight rebounds and scored four points in 19 minutes. JU hit 19-of-24 free throws, including 14-of-17 in the second half. Jonte' Edwards led three Camels in double figures with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting, while Tarick Johnson scored 14 and Zydrunas Stankus had 11. Campbell's top scorer, Adam Fellers, finished with no points and had only one shot attempt in 18 minutes. Fellers entered the game averaging 14.9 points per contest.
The Dolphins return to action on Thursday as JU takes on Samford at 8 p.m. (EST) in Birmingham, Ala., in the first of three straight road games in A-Sun play.
