Dolphins Hit the Road Again To Face Illinois State

Last Meeting: The Dolphins defeated Illinois State, 95-86, on Feb. 16, 1973 in Jacksonville.
Last Game: JU defeated South Carolina St., 76-68, on Dec. 14 in Jacksonville; Illinois St. lost at Western Kentucky, 63-43, on Dec. 15.
Up Next: The Dolphins will have 12 days off before hosting UNC Wilmington on Dec. 30. Illinois St. will host Northern Illinois on Dec. 21.
Tough Stretch ... The Dolphins finally returned home after seven straight road games to defeat South Carolina State, 76-68, on Saturday night. JU played its first eight games in 16 days, including a stretch of six games in 10 days. In addition, the Dolphins played their first five games with just nine eligible players. All totaled, JU plays eight of its first 10 games on the road. The Dolphins' five losses have come against opponents with a combined 26-10 (.772) record, including No. 22 Mississippi State.
Sheppard Shines ... Senior point guard Kevin Sheppard continues his steady play, leading the team and ranking fourth in the A-Sun with 17.7 points per game. He also leads the team with 4.2 assists per game, including a season-high eight against Montana St. He now ranks ninth all-time at JU with 334 career assists. Sheppard has also moved up the all-time steals list, ranking seventh with 116 career steals, alongside former Dolphin and current Jacksonville Jaguar Micah Ross (116).
Warner Starts Strong ... Senior forward Calvin Warner started his season late, but has come on strong in his first four games. Warner is averaging 16.3 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds a game after scoring 25 points and grabbing six boards against South Carolina St. He was was named to the Gazette Hawkeye Challenge All-Tournament Team after averaging 13.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in games against Southern Miss and Montana St.
McBride to Sit ... Junior forward Nolan McBride will miss the Illinois State game after being ejected from the South Carolina St. game following an altercation underneath the goal.
