Dolphins Topped By UCF 72-48

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - UCF's Dexter Lyons scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Golden Knights limited JU to a season-low 48 points with a 72-48 win at the UCF Arena. The loss ended the Dolphins' three-game win streak as JU fell to 7-10 overall, 2-3 in the A-Sun. UCF improved to 12-6, 4-1 in league play.

Marius Boyd added 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and seven steals for the Knights, who had 17 steals in the game and forced 21 turnovers. UCF had four players in double figures, despite hitting just 4-of-20 three-pointers. Josh Bodden contributed 12 points and six boards off the bench and Roberto Morentin had 11. Calvin Warner paced JU with 11 points and eight boards.

UCF jumped out to a 10-0 lead and led 14-3 before JU mounted a 9-2 run to pull within 16-12 with 11:30 to play in the first half. The Knights answered with a 18-0 run over the next 7:08 to take a 34-12 lead and never looked back. UCF hit 14-of-16 free throws in the first half and led 43-21 at the break. The second half was no different as the Knights led by as much as 32 en route to the lopsided victory.

UCF outrebounded the Dolphins, 41-29, and committed just nine turnovers for the game. Kevin Sheppard added seven points and three assists for JU, while James Daniels had six points on a pair of threes. The Dolphins connected on just 8-of-19 free throws.
