QUAINTANCE PROVIDES ALL-AROUND EFFORT ... Freshman forward Haminn Quaintance continued his solid all-around play against Nova Southeastern with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Quaintance, who is the first freshman to enter the season as a starter since Jeremy Livingston in 1991-92, leads the team in scoring with 13.2 points per game, while leading the team and ranking 2nd in the A-Sun with 9.2 rebounds per contest. He also leads the A-Sun and ranks 3rd in the country with 4.5 blocks per game, while ranking 5th in the league alongside teammate Aubrey Conerly with 4.0 assists per game.
HUGH'S DONE IT AGAIN ... Now in his his 36th season as a head coach, Hugh Durham is on the verge of making history again. Durham is just 9 wins shy of becoming the Dolphins' all-time winningest Division I coach with 89 victories (Rollie Rourke won 107 games from 1953-60, but JU was a junior college and NAIA program at the time). Bob Wenzel won 88 games from 1981-87. Durham has also matched the longest tenure -
7 years - of any coach in the 56-year history of JU basketball.
DRIBBLES ... The Dolphins lead the Atlantic Sun Conference in FG percentage (46.6%), 3-FG% defense (28.4%) and blocked shots (7.6/game), which also ranks 7th nationally...JU will play 12 games in 29 days starting January 3 against Belmont...Junior guard David Lee is 2nd in the A-Sun and 29th nationally in free throw shooting at 93.3% (14-15).....Sophomore guard Aubrey Conerly leads the A-Sun with a 3.33 assist/turnover ratio...Freshman center Ljubisa Vrcelj came off the bench to score a career-best 12 points and grab a career-best 9 rebounds in JU's 72-51 win over Nova Southeastern.
