Basketball Falls at Mercer, 75-62

MACON, Ga. - Senior forward Nolan McBride scored a career-best 23 points, but Mercer scored 42 second-half point in a 75-62 win over JU at the University Center in Macon. The loss ends the Dolphins three-game win streak as JU goes to 9-11 overall, 4-9 in league play.
Haminn Quaintance added 13 points for JU, which shot just 6-of-24 from outside the arc and 35.8 percent for the game. James Odoms paced Mercer (10-12, 7-6 A-Sun) with 20 points on 5-of-6 shooting from three-point land, while Scott Emerson had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Bears. Mercer outrebounded JU, 48-35, including a 26-12 advantage in the second half.
JU trailed 33-25 at the half and by as much as 11 at the 17:49 mark, but the Dolphins got within four on two occasions before Mercer pulled away with a 7-0 run to take a 61-50 lead with 6:00 to play.
The Dolphins return to action on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Gardner-Webb at Swisher Gymnasium.
