Aug. 24, 2005

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - - The first year of the Cliff Warren era at Jacksonville looks to be a memorable one.

His first schedule features 12 home dates, including the season opener against Atlantic Coast Conference foe Florida State in the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Nov. 19.

"We have a very competitive schedule this year," Warren said. "We have set up our non-conference schedule in a way that it will prepare us for conference play, which is the most important thing."

With an exhibition game against Flagler set for Nov. 5, the Dolphins open the year against Florida State before hitting the road to face South Florida on Nov. 25.

Jacksonville opens its 20-game Atlantic Sun Conference schedule at home on Dec. 2 against rival North Florida in the A-Sun "Game of the Week" on Comcast Sports Southeast.

The Dolphins will appear in the A-Sun "Game of the Week" two more times, hosting A-Sun newcomer East Tennessee State on Feb. 3 and Mercer on Feb. 17.

The remaining non-conference schedule features trips to Coastal Carolina on Dec. 11, Florida on Dec. 18 and Georgia Tech on Dec. 22. The Dolphins also have a home-and-home series with Georgia Southern, visiting the Eagles on Dec. 14 while playing host on Dec. 29.

JU returns home in 2006 to face Lipscomb on Jan. 7 followed by Belmont on Jan. 9. The Dolphins wrap up their January home slate with Gardner-Webb on Jan. 19 and Campbell on Jan. 21.

February will see the Dolphins play in Swisher Gym five times. Along with the televised game against ETSU, JU will face A-Sun newcomer Kennesaw State on Feb. 5.

After the televised game against Mercer, the Dolphins wrap up the regular season at home against Stetson (Feb. 19) and Florida Atlantic (Feb. 25).
