JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- - Dolphin students-athletes put away their books for the day and the coaches postponed their busy schedules to help kids at the Eastside Community Center in Jacksonville participate in the World Day of Play this past Saturday.

The World Day of Play is a national event held every year to get children playing an activity outside rather than staying inside to watch television or play a video game. Roughly 35 Dolphin student-athletes and coaches helped at the event which had an estimated 800 children attend.

"We really appreciate all of the student-athletes and coaches giving up their Saturday to help out in the community," said director of student-athlete development Erin Giesa. "It made a difference."

The athletes and coaches helped the kids in three-legged races, sack races, play in the moon walks and participate in other field day activities.
