Thanksgiving will be a busy time for the JU men's basketball team.

The Dolphins (0-1) will practice, eat and then hit the road on Thursday as they prepare to face in-state rival South Florida on Friday in the Sun Dome at 7 p.m.

"We're looking forward to getting back on the floor and seeing how well we've progressed since Saturday," said JU head coach Cliff Warren. "We had a really good practice on Monday, which was encouraging to see."

Jacksonville is coming off a 78-48 loss to Florida State in the season opener. The Dolphins struggled offensively, hitting 29.3 percent of their shots from the floor. Another source of contention for the coaching staff was the rebounding margin, as FSU held a 51-28 advantage.

"That's something that we've worked on a lot in practice this week," Warren said. "When we went back and watched the tape, we had guys watching the ball instead of finding somebody to box out."

As for the off-night offensively, Warren isn't worried.

"We had a lot of good looks, we just couldn't get any of the shots to fall," Warren said. "Our guys have come up to me in practice saying that if they get those shots again, they will knock them down. That's been encouraging for me because they have confidence that they can perform when called upon."
