JU signee Travis Cohn finishes high school on a high note

April 3, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Travis Cohn, a 6-foot-3 guard that signed with the JU men's basketball team in the fall, just recently completed a phenomenal senior campaign.

The starting point guard for Austin High School in Decatur, Ala., Cohn led the Black Bears to the Class 6A Final Four by averaging 14.3 points and 6.1 assists per game.

"Travis brings a great knowledge of the game to our program," said JU head coach Cliff Warren. "He's a very cerebral player and has the ability to make the players around him better. He also knows how to win, having led his team to the Final Four twice in his career, which is something that you just can't teach."

Cohn racked up awards throughout the season, starting with an appearance on the all-tournament team at the Sneaky Pete Classic in Birmingham, Ala. He followed that up by being an all-tournament selection at the prestigious Huntsville Times Classic.

One of the top players in north Alabama, Cohn was named to the Class 6A All-Area 16 team and followed that up by being named to the Northwest Regional all-tournament team in guiding the Black Bears to the regional title.

For his efforts, Cohn was selected by the Decatur Daily as a first team all-area selection.

Cohn's senior season was capped by being selected to represent Alabama in the annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic. Playing with the top players from both states, Cohn had eight points and six rebounds.

"Now it's time to get better for college," said Cohn said following the game.
