Men's Basketball giving back

April 23, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville men's basketball team volunteered at The Sanctuary on East 8th street for the second time this year on April 18.

The Dolphins participated in painting, arts and crafts and helped the children with their homework in giving time to help in the local community.

"We started this program in the fall with the goal of getting our student-athletes more involved in the community," said assistant coach William Faulkner. "We have at least four more visits this summer during our camps. It's important for the student-athletes to serve as an example for these kids to stay in school and work hard to get into college."

The children at The Sanctuary range from ages 6-14 and the Dolphins will be participating in their eight week summer camp. The summer camp activities include creative writing, arts & crafts, drumming, basketball and outdoor recreation.
