Andre McMillan to join JU in 2007-08

May 16, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville men's basketball team added another weapon to its arsenal for the 2007-08 season with the signing of Andre McMillan on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2 McMillan has spent the past two seasons starring at Tallahassee Community College, starring as an outside shooter. Last season, he averaged 10.2 points per game by hitting 41 percent of his 3-point attempts in lifting TCC to the national championship game.

McMillan also brings experience and maturity to the program as well. He served in the United State Navy for three years before returning to play college basketball and pursue his education.

"Andre's shooting ability fills a void that we had last year," said JU head coach Cliff Warren. "With his unique background and maturity, he will step into a leadership role on this team."

A native of Philadelphia, Pa., McMillan was 74-of-180 from 3-point land a year ago as TCC went 24-7. He is also an adept ball handler, averaging more than one assist and committing less than one turnover per game.

To round out his abilities, he is also accurate at the free throw line as well, hitting 78 percent of his free throw attempts.
