In need of a long-range shooter, the JU men’s basketball team signed Jimmy McMurrin for the 2009-10 season.

At the Impact Basketball Academy this past season, McMurrin hit 48 percent of his shots from 3-point land and averaged 18.6 points per game. He put up 20 points or more six times during the season, with a season-high of 30.

The Impact program faces some of the top teams around theWest Coast on an annual basis, such as Findlay Prep and Stone Ridge Academy – both of which produced multiple high-major signees this year.

“Jimmy is a confident and mature young man and a very good shooter,” said JU head coach CliffWarren. “He’s an intelligent young man in the classroom and on the basketball court. He has a tremendous work ethic and is always working on his deficiencies.”

A Las Vegas, Nev. native, McMurrin also played for the Triple Double Elite AAU team, coached by former UNLV guard Tyrel Jamerson.

McMurrin has a deep tie with JU as well, having played for the BranchWest Basketball Academy club team directed by former JU head coach Bob Gottlieb.
