Women’s and men’s cross country open 2008 season Friday
The JU women’s and men’s cross country teams will lace up its shoes for the Dolphins’ 2008 season-opening race on Friday with the JU Short Duals on campus.

The women kick things off at 5:30 p.m. with a two-mile run, while the men follow at 5:55 p.m. With a 5K race.

The Dolphins are one of five teams in the meet, which includes Atlantic Sun rival Stetson and in-state foes Bethune Cookman and FAMU

“We look forward to starting the season in a positive manner in front of a home crowd,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg.

The women’s squad, which was picked to finish fourth in the A-Sun preseason coaches’ poll, returns five runners for the 2008 season. Pacing the group is junior Ali Ritter. Ritter placed 12th at the A-Sun Championships last season with a time of 19:21.

The men’s team is led by returning runners Jon Gerety, Joey Civello and Clay Garett.
