Men’s golf takes fourth at the BCU Fall Invitational
After shooting an 11-over par 299 in the final round, the JU men’s golf team finished in fourth place at the BCU Fall Invitational at LPGA International.

Justin Jones shot a one-over par 73 in the final round to tie teammate Bobby Fredeking for 10th place in the individual competition at four-over par for the event.

Florida Atlantic shot a seven-under par 281 in the final round to win the 10-team event, led by Sam Ryder, who shot a four-under par 68 to win the individual competition at eight-under par.

“We made some positive strides this week,” said JU head coach Mike Blackburn. “We had some guys getting some experience this week and they responded with some good rounds as the tournament went on.”

After carding a three-under par 69 in the second round, Fredeking shot a three-over par 75 in the final round to fall into a tie for 10th at four-over par.

Gavin St. John Frost opened the event with a career-best three-under par 69, but struggled over the final two rounds – shooting a 75 on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 13th at six-over par.

Freshman Jamey Salmon shot a one-over par 73 on Saturday and a four-over par 76 on Sunday to finish in 18th at 11-over par.

Junior Stephen Healy, seeing his first tournament action of the season, improved as the week went on – bouncing back from an opening 87 to shoot 78-75 on the weekend to finish in 28th at 24-over par.

The Dolphins will wrap up their fall schedule on Nov. 1 as they participate in the Stetson Invitational.
