Men's Golf Places Second At The Citadel Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Junior Ben Lockwood (New South Wales, England) shot a five-over-par 149 to place fourth and lead Jacksonville to a second-place finish at The Citadel Invitational at the Pine Forrest Country Club on Tuesday.

JU shot a two-day total of 606 (303-303) to earn their best finish of the season as three Dolphins placed in the top five. Sophomores Andy Allen (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Will Morgan (Holy Port, England) finished one stroke back of Lockwood in fifth after carding a six-over-par 150. Luis Rivera (Jacksonville, Fla.) tied for 26th with a 157 (80-77) to round out the Dolphin scoring.

Elon won the tournament with a 595 (301-294), followed by Jacksonville, Stetson, Gardner-Webb and Appalachian State, High Point, Western Carolina, Cleveland State, Ohio Wesleyan, The Citadel, VMI and South Carolina St, respectively.

Elon's Keith Orien captured individual medalist honors with an even-par 144 (72-71), while Francis McCahili (75-72) of Stetson and Craig Hicks (75-73) of Cleveland State tied for second with a three-over-par 147. Lockwood led the tournament through 18 holes after firing an even-par 72 on day one.
