Ben Lockwood Wins Bethune-Cookman Spring Invitational

DAYTONA, Fla. - Jacksonville's Ben Lockwood (Tamworth, New South Wales) topped all golfers, firing a five-under par 139 (70-69), to claim the individual crown at the two-day Bethune-Cookman Spring Invitational tournament held at Indigo Lakes Country Club. The win is the second of the year for Lockwood, who won the Coca-Cola Intercollegiate in October of 2001. As a team, the Dolphins finished fourth, shooting a 31-over par 607 (308-299), five strokes back of third-place Stetson.

Louis Rivera (Jacksonville, Fla.) shot a 10-over 154 (77-77) to finish in a three-way tie for 20th place, while senior Patrick Nealon (Ormond Beach, Fla.) finished a shot back (78-77=155) in a three-way tie for 23rd. Will Morgan's (Holy Port, England) 15-over performance (83-76=159) landed him in a four-way tie for 29th place. Andy Lane (Jacksonville, Fla.) rounded out the Dolphin scoring, firing a 30-over par, 182 (95-87) to finish in 44th place.

Flagler College won the tournament, shooting a seven-over 583 (290-293), followed by Rollins College (293-294=587), Stetson (294-308=602) and JU.
