Men's Golf Finishes Sixth At Atlantic Sun Championship

TAVRARES, Fla. - JU senior Ben Lockwood (Tamworth, New South Wales) shot a 2-under-par 214 (74-71-69) to finish in a tie for sixth as the Dolphins placed sixth with a 894 (297-294-303) at the Atlantic Sun Golf Championship at the Deer Island Golf Club in Tavares, Fla. Jacksonville State captured the conference championship with a 4-under 860 (286-283-291) edging out Georgia State (861) by a stroke. Jax State's Jose Campra earned individual medalist honors after firing an 8-under-par 208 (69-71-68).

Lockwood, who finished second in last year A-Sun Championship, recovered from a 74 in the first round to shoot 4-under the final two days. JU's Patrick Nealon (Ormond Beach, Fla.) fired a 6-over 222 (73-76-73) to finish in a tie for 20th, while sophomore Will Morgan (Holy Port, England) placed 37th (230). Sophomore Ryan Busch (Ponte Verde Beach, Fla.) shot a 239 to tie for 51st and junior Luis Rivera (Jacksonville, Fla.) finished 53rd with a 242.

Campbell's Simon Dunn shot a 7-under 209 (66-70-73) to finish one shot back of Campra, followed by Georgia State's D.J. fiese (211), Stetson's Francis McCahill (211) and Mercer's Jeff Lozano (212) to round out the top five.
