Dolphins return to action for the first time since Feb. 17

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a two week break from competition, the Jacksonville men’s lacrosse team returns to action this Saturday against High Point at 2:00 pm. The match-up is a serves as a warm-up for the two programs which will both be joining the Atlantic Sun Conference’s newly formed men’s lacrosse league next season.

“The past two weeks we’ve been tightening up our mistakes and working on getting a little bit better everyday,” said Head Coach Guy Van Arsdale. “We been trying to focus on our stick handling and making smarter decisions on the field.”

After opening the season at No. 6 Duke, Jacksonville dropped a 9-6 decision to No. 19 Ohio State in the 2013 Moe’s Southwest Grill Classic at Everbank Field back on Feb. 17.

Senior TJ Kenary (Alpharetta, Ga.) leads the team with four goals and three assists this season. Senior Cam Mann (Hamilton, Ont.) meanwhile has added two goals and two assists. Mann’s 15 consecutive games with a goal are tied for the seventh longest active streak in the nation headed into this weekend. He also ranks fifth in the nation having recorded a point in 42 straight games.

High Point is coming off a 12-5 loss at Bellarmine last weekend.  The Panthers are playing their inaugural season this spring.

“High Point is a quality first year program,” said Van Arsdale. “They have a dangerous offense and an outstanding goal keeper that makes you work to get a good shot.”
