JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As the Jacksonville University men’s lacrosse team reaches the midway point of the regular season, the Dolphins look to grab some momentum to enter the closing stretch of Atlantic Sun contests that await the team in April. The first chance to make that happen comes on Saturday, when Jacksonville (1-5) goes north to face Robert Morris (2-4) in a non-conference matchup in Moon Township, Pa. The game will get started at 12 p.m. with a live stream courtesy of NECFrontRow.
A 7-1 deficit ended up being too much for Jacksonville to overcome last week as the Dolphins ended up on the wrong side of a 15-12 decision against visiting Air Force. Tom Moore was at the center of JU’s comeback effort, scoring four goals and adding three assists. His seven-point day tied for the second-best offensive day ever for a Jacksonville player and he now leads the Dolphins with nine goals on the season. Quint Miller added his second hat trick of the season and has eight goals. Duncan Clancy assisted on Moore’s opening score and leads the team with nine assists.
Like Jacksonville, Robert Morris comes in on the heels of a loss; theirs an 8-6 defeat to Hobart. The two RMU wins on the season have come against two foes the Dolphins are plenty familiar with from their days in the MAAC. The Colonials defeated Detroit, 11-7, and took down Siena, 10-9. RMU is led in goals by three players: JonPatrik Kealey, Luke Laszkiewicz and Eric Rankel. All three have put 10 in the back of the net, while Laszkiewicz and Rankel are tied for the team lead in points, as each has added six assists on the season. Brian Bohn will likely start the game in goal for the Colonials. He has a 10.42 goals-against average and a .483 save percentage on the season.
Jacksonville concludes the month of March with its final non-conference game of the season. The Dolphins will travel to Columbus, Ohio to meet Ohio State on March 29. That game will get going at 2:30 p.m.
