Men’s rowing heads to San Diego Crew Classic
The Dolphins will be cashing in on some frequent flyer miles as the JU Men’s Varsity 8 takes to the water on the West Coast for the first time in program history after earning an invitation to the 38th annual San Diego Crew Classic, Saturday at Crown Point Shores on Mission Bay.

One of the premier spring regattas on the West Coast, the San Diego Crew Classic will feature nearly 4,000 athletes from over 100 clubs, universities and colleges from across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Varsity 8 with coxswain Thomas Richards, Dylan Kosten, Richard Kelly, Scott DelVecchio, Brian Cosmillo, Greg VanOekel, Andy Davis, Brad Miller and Kevin Friedlander will compete against Stanford, Northeastern, UC San Diego and Temple at 8:40 a.m. PT in the second of two heats for the Copley Cup (the premier event at the San Diego Crew Classic).

The first heat for the Copley Cup will feature 2010 National Champion California, Oregon State, Michigan and Bucknell.

The top three finishers from each heat will compete in the Grand Final for the Copley Cup at 9:15 a.m. PT. The remaining boats will face off in the Petite Final at 8:50 a.m. PT.
