Men’s rowing prepares for fast competition at SIRA Regatta
After being declared the best in the state of Florida for the fifth straight year, the JU men’s rowing team will prepare to compete in the Southeast Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Regatta on Saturday and Sunday in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

The Junior Varsity 8 with coxswain Tom Richards, Matt Outlaw, John Gerety, Chris Ottie, Bernard Vingilis, Preston Weinard, Parker Lawler, Brian Tye and Jared Low will compete in their initial heat against St. Joseph’s, Purdue and Notre Dame on Saturday at 9:40 a.m. The top finisher will move onto the Grand Final while the remaining boats compete in the Repechage.

The Varsity 8 made up of coxswain Andrew Soloway, Dylan Kosten, Rich Kelly, Scott DelVecchio, Brian Cosmillo, Greg VanOekel, Andy Davis, Brad Miller and Kevin Friedlander will compete in its initial heat against North Carolina State, North Carolina, UC San Diego, Texas and Virginia Tech on Saturday at 12:38 p.m. The top three finishers will advance to the A, B, C Semifinals while the remaining boats compete in the Repechage.

The Freshman/Novice Lightweight 4 with coxswain Jessica Mellinger, Andrew Manchester, Shane Kennedy, Troy Troupe and Sean Carney will race in its initial heat on Saturday at 1:40 p.m. The top three finishers will move on to the Grand Final while the remaining boats compete in the Repechage.
