The JU men's soccer team will look to erase all remnants of last season starting Sept. 1 at UCF as the Dolphins release their 2010 schedule.

The Dolphins, who missed the A-Sun Tournament for the first time in five years in 2009, will play USF in an exhibition match on Aug. 18th. They host Flagler at the Ashley Sports Complex in the final preseason tune-up on Aug. 22 before the season opener in Orlando.

"We are excited about getting going again," said JU head coach Mike Johnson. "There is no question that things didn't go as expected last season. We had a productive spring and brought in a good set of players that will help us get back to the conference tournament. This schedule is going to be tough, but we are going to be up for the challenge."

Following the match against the Knights, the Dolphins host Florida Atlantic for the home opener at the Ashley Sports Complex on Sept. 3. JU will play Georgia Southern at home a couple days later on Sept. 7.

The Dolphins head out of town for their first early season tournament in Elon, N.C. against UNC Greensboro (Sept. 10) and host Elon (Sept. 12).

After playing FIU (Sept. 17) and Manhattan (Sept. 19), the Dolphins close out the non-conference schedule against Alabama A&M and SMU at the UAB Tournament starting on Sept. 24.

JU's nine-game A-Sun schedule begins with a tough match at cross-town rival UNF on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. They will also look to regain the Dennis Violet Memorial Cup after losing it to the Ospreys last season.

The Dolphins play Belmont (Oct. 8) and Lipscomb (Oct. 10) at the Ashley Sports Complex before heading out of town to face ETSU (Oct. 15) and USC Upstate (Oct. 17).

Campbell will start the final set of home matches for JU on Oct 21. The Dolphins welcome Mercer for the home finale at the Ashley Sports Complex on Oct. 23.

JU heads to Fort Myers, Fla. to play Florida Gulf Coast (Oct. 29) before facing Stetson in DeLand, Fla. for the regular season finale on Oct. 31.

For the second year in a row, the A-Sun Tournament will stretch into two weekends again for the right to earn a berth to the NCAA College Cup. The first round is set for Nov. 6, while the semifinals at the No. 1 seed's home field begin on Nov. 11.

In 2009, the Dolphins ended the season falling in six of their final eight matches for a 5-11-1 record. JU suffered eight one-goal losses in 2009, despite out shooting their opponents by more than 60 shots (270-210) during the season.

Despite the outcome, the Dolphins had seniors Stefan Runeman and Eddie Munnelly earn first team all-conference honors, while Davide Faga and Filip Terland received all-freshman accolades.
