Men’s soccer ranked eighth in NSCAA South Region Poll
A strong start by the JU men’s soccer team is starting to gain some regional attention as the Dolphins were ranked eighth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/HendrickCars.com South Region Poll.

The Dolphins appear in the poll for the first time since the 2008 season after winning three of their last four games following the season opening loss on Sept. 1.

“This is a nice early honor,” said JU head coach Mike Johnson. “We have been playing well so it’s great to be noticed by other people in our region. Hopefully, we can continue our pace and keep improving as we get closer to conference play.”

Following a mulligan to start the 2010 season at UCF, the Dolphins rattled off three straight 2-1 victories over Florida Atlantic (Sept. 3), Georgia Southern (Sept. 7) and UNC Greensboro (Sept. 10).

Junior forward Darko Karamatic connected on game-winning overtime goals against the Owls and Eagles before adding an insurance goal in the win against the Spartans. Junior Anthony Forde also had a goal against UNC Greensboro and Elon, while junior goalie Johnny Foley recorded a conference-best 26 saves during the stretch.

The Dolphins will hit the pitch again on Friday at the Ashley Sports Complex to host FIU at 5 p.m.
