Men’s soccer shuts out Alabama A&M, 7-0
The JU men’s soccer team scored early and often to knock off Alabama A&M, 7-0, on Friday night in Birmingham, Ala.

The Dolphins (5-2-1) enjoyed a 28-6 shot advantage in the contest, while senior Nedim Hrustic scored twice to lead the attack. Junior Johnny Foley (4-2-1) and sophomore Zach Greenwald combined for three saves between the posts to help the cause.

“It was nice to finally get a win against them,” said JU head coach Mike Johnson. “They have had our number the last two seasons so we wanted to jump on them early to try to set up a win. We can only enjoy this victory for a little bit because we have a tough challenge ahead of us on Sunday.”

Moses Adeniran and Abraham Kassaye each recorded two shots for the Bulldogs (0-5), while Rashad Hammonds had eight saves in goal.

The Dolphins took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute of the match after Hrustic scored on a pass from junior Predrag Ivanovic.

Junior Tyler Williams scored an unassisted goal in the 20th minute before combining with junior Casey Tafuri on a pass to set up Hrustic’s second goal less than four minutes later.

In the second half, freshman Martin Resch scored his first goal as a Dolphin on a header during a corner kick from Ivanovic in the 52nd minute for a 4-0 advantage.

Junior Anthony Forde (72’) and freshman Matt Behrhorst (75’) each recorded unassisted goals, while senior Wesley Lartey scored on a pass from Forde in the 80th minute to round out the offense.

The Dolphins close the non-conference slate against No. 9 SMU on Sunday at noon in Birmingham, Ala.
