Men’s soccer falls to ETSU, 1-0
The JU men’s soccer team continues to have things go against them as the Dolphins dropped their third straight A-Sun match to ETSU, 1-0, on Friday night in Johnson City, Tenn.

The Buccaneers (8-4, 3-2 A-Sun) got the game-winning goal from Guilherme Reis in the 15th minute to take the win, while the ETSU defense held the Dolphins (6-6-1, 1-3) to just four shots the entire match.

“We didn’t have a great night,” said JU head coach Mike Johnson. “It never seemed we got in the right sync and we just couldn’t make anything with the opportunities we got from them. We just have to keep working hard to turn things back in our direction.”

Junior midfielder Predrag Ivanovic had two of the four JU shot attempts and sophomore goalie Zach Greenwald posted two saves.

The Dolphins had an early chance from senior forward Nedim Hrustic less than three minutes into the match, but his shot went high.

In the 15th minute, the Dolphins committed their second foul which resulted in a penalty kick for the Buccaneers. Reis connected for his third goal of the season to get the 1-0 advantage.

Ivanovic recorded both of his shots in consecutive attempts less than seven minutes later, but one hit was blocked and the other shot hit the crossbar.

In the second half, JU had all six of its corner kicks come in the final 15 minutes of the match that ETSU held firm in to secure the victory.

The Dolphins look to end the skid on Sunday at USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
