The JU men’s soccer team will look to continue its hot streak when the Dolphins host cross-town rival UNF in a SunTrust River City Rumble matchup on Saturday at 7 p.m. from the Ashley Sports Complex.

JU has surged to a first-place start in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings, going 4-0-1 in league play. The Dolphins have gone unbeaten in the last six games overall, posting a 5-0-1 mark since Sept. 28.

In conference play, JU has accumulated 13 out of a possible 15 points to build a four-point cushion over second-place FGCU with three regular season games remaining.

“After a long road trip, we’re excited to play at home again and face our local rival,” JU coach Mike Johnson said. “We saw some positives out of the last few games but we know there is room for improvement. Hopefully, playing a hungry UNF squad will bring out the best in us.”

Johnson’s team leads the A-Sun in total goals scored as the Dolphins have potted 23 in 14 games for a 1.64 goals-per-game average. The team’s current six-game unbeaten streak is three games longer than Stetson’s second-longest streak of three games.

Scouting UNF

UNF (1-12-0 overall, 0-5-0 A-Sun) is looking to play spoiler against the Dolphins and earn its first conference win of the season in the process. Four of the team’s five conference losses have come by two goals or fewer; with a 3-2 double overtime defeat to ETSU marking the closest the Ospreys have come to earning a point.

Enrique Haeussler is the only Osprey to score multiple goals this season, notching two scoring strikes and four total points to lead the UNF attack.

Fin Notes

JU is one of just three schools in the conference to have a RPI in the top-100. The Dolphins ranked 90th in the poll released on Tuesday, joining FGCU and ETSU as the only A-Sun schools to make the list.

Sophomore Gavin Carlin is undefeated since joining the Dolphins in time for the start of A-Sun play against Mercer. The 6-5 goalkeeper is 4-0-1 since coming to Jacksonville, posting a .765 save percentage.

Senior Stefan Durr scored goals in back-to-back games last weekend, helping the Dolphins go 1-0-1 in their longest road trip of the season through Nashville, Tenn. Durr scored what proved to be the game-winner versus Lipscomb and notched JU’s only score in a 1-1 tie at Belmont. His five goals lead the squad.

Nick Rodriguez continues to enjoy a breakout season. The sophomore forward has the second-most points (nine) and is tied with senior Tyler Williams for the second-most goals scored with three.
