Men's soccer names Todd Eason assistant coach
JU men’s soccer head coach Ryan Pratt has started to fill out his staff by hiring assistant coach Todd Eason.
Eason, a former professional soccer player and collegiate head coach, joins the men’s soccer staff for the 2012 season after spending the last three years being involved with Brilla Soccer Ministries.
“I am very excited to have Todd join our staff here at Jacksonville University, said Pratt.” “As a very talented and hardworking individual, Todd will be a very important piece of this programs future moving forward. He is an excellent and experienced coach whose knowledge will prove to be invaluable to our student-athletes here at JU.”
His duties with Brilla Soccer Ministries included being the director of player development and associate head coach of Brilla FC. Eason was responsible for helping to develop youth soccer players and designing programs that educated and taught players and coaches. In his three seasons as the associate head coach of Brilla FC (2009-2011), Eason helped lead the team to three conference regular season titles and provided professional opportunities for nine players.
Previous to his time with Brilla Soccer Ministries, Eason was an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Tusculum College (2007-2009). The team won two conference titles (2007 and 2008). In 2008, he helped lead Tusculum to a Division II NCAA Elite Eight appearance and achieve a final NSCAA national raking of 5th in the country. In 2007, Eason was named staff member of the year.
Eason preceded his tenor at Tusculum as the head coach at North Georgia College and State University (2005-2006). The program was transitioning from NAIA to NCAA Division II and Eason was able to guide the team to the conference tournament every year he was there.
His coaching career began in 2001 when Eason took the job of head women’s soccer coach of Asbury College in the program’s inaugural season. After a year he moved on to be the head women’s coach at Southern Wesleyan University where he stayed until 2005. After finishing with a 2-12-3 record his first season, the team had a winning record every year after and qualified for the playoffs each season.
Eason graduated from William Carey University in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. He went on to play professional soccer for the Charlotte Eagles in the USL D-3 Pro League for two seasons. He was a member of the Eagles 2000 national champion team.
He is single and will live in Jacksonville.
