JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Jacksonville University men’s soccer team fell at home against Belmont by a final score of 1-0 on Saturday night.

The Dolphins (1-5-1) weren’t outworked or outhustled; they simply were unable to put the ball in the net. Belmont scored early in the matchup after they were able to get sophomore forward Raphael Colmanette in a one-on-one situation out in front of goal. With Gavin Carlin advancing towards him, he chipped the ball over the top for a quick 1-0 lead in the 6th minute.

Outshot 9-0 in the first half, the Dolphins did their best to create more opportunities in the second period. JU notched  four shots on goal in the frame and their best break at scoring occurred midway in the period as midfielder Ivo Lima controlled a cross with a pair of touches but had his shot deflected out for a corner kick.

Keeper Gavin Carlin recorded five saves in the match and midfielders Juan Arguedas and Hector Vega each had two shots with one shot on goal.

Jacksonville returns to Southern Oak Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. to face Davidson in the last match before Atlantic Sun action.
