Soccer Teams Among NCAA Leaders

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University's soccer teams were well represented when the first national statistical-leaders were released today by the NCAA.
For the women's team, senior forward Marit Foss (Hamresanden, Norway) ranked No. 1 in assists (15) and tied for sixth in points (21), while men's goalkeeper, sophomore Mike Miller (East Brunswick, N.J.) tied for fourth in saves per game with an 8.00 average.
Foss has 15 assists on the season, which gives her an average of 2.50 per game. Her six assists in a match versus Alabama A&M, which tied an NCAA record, tied her for first in the nation for single-game highs with Mercer's Anne-Marie Lapalme.
As a team, the women's squad is ranked third in the nation in scoring, with 5.17 goals per game. The Dolphins have 31 goals and 30 assists on the season and are tied for 12th in goals in a match with 10 (vs. Alabama A&M on Sept. 1).
The women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 16 when it faces Belmont at 12 p.m. in the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by Stony Brook in Stony Brook, N.Y. The men will host Central Connecticut State, Florida Atlantic and DePaul in the JU/Nike Legends-Dennis Violett Memorial Classic beginning Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Ashley Sports Complex. FAU takes on CCSU at 1:30 p.m., and JU will face DePaul at 4 p.m.
