Three Jacksonville University men's soccer players scored as the Dolphins defeated Trans America Athletic Conference opponent UCF 3-1 Tuesday afternoon at the Ashley Sports Complex.

With the win, the Dolphins improve their record to 5-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in TAAC play. The loss drops the Golden Knights to 0-10-2 on the year, 0-2-0 in league play.

Senior forward Mladen Dikic (Lovran, Croatia) opened the scoring for the Dolphins with a shot inside the six off touches from sophomore forward Michael Blackburn (Arlington, Texas) and junior midfielder Hope Chiota (Harare, Zimbabwe) to put JU up 1-0 at the half.

Freshman midfielder Scot Shewey (Gainesville, Fla.) dribbled in a pass from freshman defender Nick Comerford (Gainesville, Fla.) at the top of the six to score the Dolphins' second goal at 59:44 in the match. Blackburn would add the final goal less than a minute later on a through ball from Dikic.

UCF avoided the shutout when sophomore Ornulf Olsen scored at 66:50 on a pass from junior Adam Hirsh.

The Dolphins return to action Tuesday, Oct. 17 when they host TAAC opponent Florida Atlantic at 3 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
