Senior goalkeeper Petar Popovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) had nine saves but it was not enough as the Jacksonville University men's soccer team tied Georgia Southern, 0-0, Sunday afternoon at the Ashley Sports Complex.
With the tie, the Dolphins conclude their regular season with a 5-6-4 overall record, 2-1-3 in TAAC play. The Eagles are now 6-10-3 on the season, 2-5-1 in Southern Conference play.
Both teams missed opportunities to score with shuts bouncing off of the cross bar and great plays made by both goalkeepers, including two made by Popovic in overtime. Eagle goalkeepers Garret Lazenby and Kirk Lafibeaudiere recorded a total of eight saves, as Georgia Southern out-shot the Dolphins 21-18.
The game wrapped up the 2000 season for the Dolphins.
