Sophomore midfielder Sean Steed (Kissimmee, Fla.) and sophomore forward Hamdy Bonin (Lower Caldecote, England) each scored goals in the first 10 minutes of the match, and sophomore defender Brett Surrency (Gainesville, Fla.) added a late goal, as the Dolphins improved their record to 3-1 (1-1, A-Sun) with a 3-1 win over Belmont, Sunday afternoon in Atlantic Sun conference action. The Bruins fall to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the A-Sun.

JU took command of the game early on as Steed's header off a Stephen Decker (Gainesville, Fla.) crossing pass found its way to the back of the net, putting the Dolphins up 1-0 in just the sixth minute. The Dolphins stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 10th minute when freshman forward Dia Hunte (Harriman Park, Trinidad Tobago) connected with Bonin for the first of his two assists on the day. After a Belmont goal by John Martin cut the lead in half at 2-1, and a 30-minute lightening delay, Hunte tallied his second assist of the afternoon, this time connecting with Surrency on a corner kick to give JU an insurmountable 3-1 lead.

The Dolphins overpowered Belmont, outshooting the Bruins 16-7, in a game that featured 39 fouls, including seven yellow cards.

The Dolphins look to stay on the winning track when they return to action on Saturday, September 29, at 7 p.m., against conference opponent Campbell, in Buies Creek S.C.
