Soccer's Steve Command Named A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week

Sept. 16, 2002

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University senior defender Steve Command was named Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. The Brighton, Mich., native led the Dolphins to a 1-1-1 record for the week, scoring his first two goals of the season, while continuing to anchor the Dolphin defense.

Command scored his first goal of the season in the Dolphins' 3-1 victory over Wofford College Friday in Spartanburg, S.C. and scored his second goal in as many games as JU tied Winthrop, 2-2. JU trailed Winthrop virtually the entire game, scoring both of its goals in the final ten minutes. Command's goal in the 86th minute sent the game into overtime, and the Dolphins escaped with a tie.

The Dolphins (2-2-1) travel to Charleston, S.C., on Saturday to take on Charleston Southern at 4:00 p.m. at CSU field.
