DELAND, Fla. - The Jacksonville University men's soccer team could not overcome a two-goal halftime deficit and fell to Stetson, 2-0, in Atlantic Sun action Wednesday afternoon at the Stetson Soccer Complex. The loss was the first for the Dolphins (5-3-1, 1-1-0 A-Sun) in five games, as they also suffered their first defeat in conference play. Junior keeper Greg Williams (Hopewell, N.Y.) made five saves for the Dolphins.

In the first half, Stetson's Jason Osborne gave the Hatters a 1-0 lead, scoring an unassisted goal off a free kick that deflected off the post in the 14th minute. Andy Anspaugh made it 2-0 Stetson just before the half in the 33rd minute taking a cross from Chris Fronk and sending it into the back of the net.

Sophomore Carlos Serrano (Jacksonville, Fla.) led the Dolphins with three shots on goal. Stetson keeper Ian Landrum made seven saves in recording the shutout.

The Dolphins return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 9, as they host North Florida in the inaugural Dennis Viollet Memorial Cup at the Ashley Sports Complex at 4 p.m.
