NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Sophomore forward Carlos Serrano (Jacksonville, Fla.) scored a pair of second-half goals and freshman Gerrit deBoer (Yulee, Fla.) made his first collegiate start in goal as the Dolphins shut-out Lipscomb, 2-0, Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. JU, which improves to 9-5-2 overall, has won two-straight games heading into the regular-season finale against Florida Atlantic on November 6.
Serrano broke a scoreless tie in the 63rd minute taking a pass from junior midfielder Sean Steed (Kissimmee, Fla.) and beating Bisons' keeper J.D. Murphy for his second game-winner of the season. Serrano scored his second goal in the 86th minute as his shot deflected off a Lipscomb defender and into the net for the 2-0 advantage. deBoer played the entire game making four saves, en route to his first career shutout. JU outshot the Bisons, 20-13, including 6-to-1 on corner kicks.
The Dolphins wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, November 6, hosting Florida Atlantic at the Ashley Sports Complex at 3 p.m.
