Oct. 28, 2002

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University junior defender Ryan Potts (Winter Park, Fla.) was named Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Potts led the Dolphins to a 2-0 record on the week, including a key 3-2 victory over A-Sun foe Belmont, in which he scored the game-winner, and a 2-0 shutout over Lipscomb. Potts joins senior defender Steve Command (Brighton, Mich.) and junior keeper Greg Williams (Hopewell, N.Y.) as Dolphins who have earned the honor this season.

Potts scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 78th minute, in JU's win over Belmont on Saturday, while anchoring the Dolphin defense on Sunday as they shut out host Lipscomb. It was the third game-winner of the season for Potts, who now has three goals, including two game-winners, and an assist in seven conference games this season.

JU (9-5-2, 4-2-1 A-Sun) wraps up the regular season hosting FAU on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Ashley Sports Complex at 3 p.m.
