Richard Blackburn Garners Multiple Men's Soccer Player of the Week Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior forward Richard Blackburn (Orange Park HS) earned Atlantic Sun Conference and soccerFLA.com Player-of-the-Week honors after recording two goals in JU's win over Lafayette on Sept. 19. Blackburn also joined senior goalkeeper Greg Williams (Hopewell, N.Y.), and junior midfielder Brian Blackburn (Orange Park HS) as a part of the Lehigh Nike Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team, announced by tournament host Lehigh.
Richard Blackburn joins sophomore forward Tommy Krizanovic (Jacksonville/Englewood) as members of the Dolphins' squad to be named A-Sun Offensive Player of the Week this season. Krizanovic won the award on Sept. 13 after tallying four goals and two assists for the Dolphins in wins against North Florida, Sacred Heart and Illinois-Chicago.
The Dolphins went 1-1 on the weekend in Bethlehem, Pa., winning, 3-2, over Lafayette in overtime after losing to the host Mountain Hawks in overtime, 1-0.
Richard Blackburn scored two goals, including the game-winner, in Sunday's match against Lafayette. He now leads the team in assists (3) and ranks second on the team in goals (4).Williams logged 188 minutes in goal, making 12 saves during the weekend to improve his record to 4-2 on the season. Brian Blackburn earned his only assist of the weekend on Richard's golden goal against the Leopards. He now stands third on the team in points (5).
JU next faces the College of Charleston at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, at Patriot's Point on the C of C campus.
