Men's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision at the College of Charleston
Sept. 23, 2004
MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Sophomore midfielder Tyler Stansberry (McAllen, Texas) scored his first goal of the season in JU's comeback effort, but the College of Charleston's two early first-half goals held up to give the Cougars a 2-1 win over the Jacksonville University men's soccer team Thursday night at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The Dolphins drop to 4-3 on the season, while Charleston climbs to 4-3.
The Cougars took the initial lead in the 10th minute when Tony Myers scored with an assist from Jeremy Gold. Myers then assisted on Scott Milroth's goal in the 16th minute to put Charleston up 2-0.
JU did not go away, as the Dolphins took more shots on goal than the Cougars, 9-8. In the 79th minute, Stansberry fired a shot over Cougar goalkeeper Keith Wiggans' head to cut the lead in half to 2-1. However, the Dolphins only got one more shot off the rest of the match, which sailed harmlessly high of the crossbar.
The Dolphins are slated to take on in-state rival Florida International at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at the Ashley Sports Complex.
