Men's soccer defeats VMI, 4-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- - The Jacksonville University men's soccer team scored four first-half goals and never looked back as they defeated Virginia Military Institute, 4-1, Saturday morning in the first game of the JU/Adidas Invitational at the Ashley Sports Complex.
Nine-minutes into the first half, freshman Anton Axelsson scored a goal on a header with an assist from junior Tommy Krizanovic to give the Dolphins (2-1-0) a 1-0 lead. Axelsson helped extend the Dolphins lead to 2-0, by scoring off a deflection at the 24-minute mark of the first half.
Krizanovic added his fifth goal in three games as he scored on a straight shot to give the Dolphins a 3-0 advantage. Sophomore Drew Lear knocked in his first goal of the season off a deflection from the goalie with 13-minutes remaining in the first half.
Wythe Hornbal scored off a header in the second half for the Keydets (2-1-1), but it wasn't enough to catch the Dolphins.
The Dolphins play tomorrow at home against UNC-Wilmington in the final game of the JU/Adidas Invitational at 9 a.m.
