Men's soccer defeats Gardner-Webb, 4-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- - Freshman Akeem Priestley scored two second half goals to help the Jacksonville men's soccer team pull past the Gardner-Webb, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon.

"It was a good win after an emotional and hard fought loss to Campbell on Thursday," said head coach Mike Johnson. "Our guys come out a little flat, but rose to the occasion in the second half. They executed well and took care of winning the game."

With the scored tied a one apiece in the second half, sophomore Anton Axelsson added his eighth goal of the season by an assist from junior Tommy Krizanovic at the 27-mintue mark to wake the Dolphins (5-5-0, 1-0 A-Sun) scoring attack.

Krizanovic helped extend the Dolphins lead to 3-1 by dishing out an assist to Priestley who scored on the give and go around the 20-minute frame. Priestley scored on another give and go with four minutes remaining by an assist from Axelsson. Priestley now has two multi-goal scoring games this season. Patrik Werner earned his first assist of the season on the play.

The Dolphins travel to play against Clemson on Tuesday Oct. 4, at 7 p.m.
