Oct. 23, 2005
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- - Junior Tommy Krizanovic scored his 13th goal of the season in the second half, but Mercer would also score a goal in the second half to force a 1-1 tie against the Jacksonville men's soccer team on Sunday night at the Ashley Sports Complex in Atlantic Sun action.
After a scoreless first half, Mark McKeever put the Bears (7-7-1, 4-1-1 A-Sun) on the board with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game by scoring from 10 yards out.
The Dolphins (5-8-1, 1-3-1 A-Sun) would tie the game less than five minutes later by Krizanovic scoring on an assist from freshman Riley Butler.
Both teams labored and battled to score the game winner in overtime. During the first overtime period, the Bears had three shot on goals. Luis Hernandez had two of the shots, but neither drifted past junior goalie Gerrit deBoer, who recorded seven saves in his first start of the season.
Krizanovic had the lone shot for the Dolphins in the first overtime, but it was saved by Bears goalie Aldo Balsano.
In the second overtime, Butler launched a shot from 20 yards out, but it went wide left and narrowly missed going in for the Dolphins.
The Dolphins travel to play against Belmont in Nashville, Tenn. on Thursday at 7 p.m in a key A-Sun match up.
