Men's soccer defeats cross-town rival UNF, 4-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- - Junior Tommy Krizanovic scored two goals to help the Jacksonville men's soccer team earn their second consecutive Dennis Violett Memorial Cup by downing cross-town rival UNF, 4-1, Friday night in the regular season finale at the Ashley Sports Complex.
Freshman Phillip Meyner gave the Dolphins (7-9-2, 3-4-1 A-Sun) the initial lead when he scored his first collegiate goal from 20-yards out at the 26-minute mark in the first half. Later in the half, Krizanovic scored his 16th goal of the season on an assist from freshman Jonathon Jackson to give the Dolphins a 2-0 advantage..
The Ospreys (3-10-1, 3-5-0 A-Sun) cut the Dolphins lead to 2-1, when Rohan Culley scored a header with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.
Around the 23rd-minute in the second half, freshman Akeem Priestley, who was recently named Atlantic Sun "Offensive Player of the Week," scored his 11th goal of the season in the left side of the goal on an assist from sophomore Anton Axelsson. Senior Brian Blackburn took a hard foul at the 18-minute mark to set up Krizanovic's second goal of the game and give the Dolphins their second Violett Cup.
Junior goalie Gerrit deBoer recorded fives saves in the victory.
The Dolphins will travel to compete in the first round of the A-Sun Conference Tournament in Macon, Ga. starting Thursday, Nov. 10.
