ROCK HILL, S.C. - Elon scored goal with less than four minutes remaining in overtime to sink the Jacksonville University men's soccer team, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon in Rock Hill, S.C.
"We gave up too many goals early," said JU head coach Mike Johnson. "Our team did tremendous job of battling back, but it's had to dig yourself out of hole sometimes. We are looking forward to a solid week of practice before playing again next Sunday."
The Phoenix (2-0) got the game-winning goal in overtime from Brett Paschall on an assist from Kiki Wells.
The Phoenix jumped to a 3-0 advantage in the first half on goals by Willis, Blake Wertz and Douglas Boateng.

Axelsson would score an unassisted goal less than five minutes into the second half to put the Dolphins within one goal at 3-2.
Senior Tommy Krizanovic would tie the game with his second goal of the season at the 27-minute mark of the second half.
Justin Wyatt would put the Phoenix back up by one goal at 4-3, but Krizanovic would tie the game again with less than four minutes remaining in the game to force overtime.
